Things to update about....
One week of working done. I think maybe he's letting me be a bit picky about which projects to do. Maybe because he knows he's paying me a good deal less than anyone else, so he's content getting only a little out of me. Not sure. Might also be because he's not sure what I'm capable of or maybe he wants to do all of his projects himself. I might ask him for a spec and a timescale on the next project to see what that's like.
Liz stayed over last night. We also went ballroom dancing on tues, and plan to go next week too. There are moments when I expect the casual observer would conclude that we were going out, but I can't. I sometimes find myself flirting with her and feeling guilty, because I know it can't mean anything. Meh. I've told her that before. She knows the truth. Why should I worry about her forgetting? She certainly doesn't need my cold goodbyes to remind her. Someday, I'll learn to just enjoy myself and let such things go unsaid.
I bought the NGE movies and they go a little way towards explaining the ending of the series, but they also confuse things a little. Not good. If anyone with a login on my box wants to take the *series* from /share/downloads: feel free. I haven't ripped the DVDs, but when I do so, I will attempt to get them into .mkv or .ogm without losing an of the information. For some reason, kaffeine doesn't like displaying the english subs with japanese audio, so possibly ripping to mkv will do the trick so I can watch them without losing the emotion that's present in the original but just sounds cliche in the dubs.
I really want to learn TCP/IP properly. I have a book. I also want to learn more about XML. The book I borrowed was shit though: too many things "outside the scope of this book". It would also be nice to see how much of the definitions in SVG can be implemented in pure XML, or some hacked version of CSS/XSL. Implementing kopetepluslogs.py in XSL would be quite a nice exercise.
chat.cam.ac.uk *still* isn't up. This makes me sad. "by July 2006" evidently means "by the end of..." |
