Who is it getting shot at the end? Liz thinks it's the guys in the car, which would make it a sad ending. I think it's the executioner killing the criminals, which makes the ending not especially any more tragic than the rest of the film
The main character was hot though (in that reserved, quiet way that you'd be afraid to touch for fear of breaking *glance at Qian*("Oh, so that's why you hardly talked to her?"))... talking of which, I expect Qian could probably identify with the main character pretty well, the amount of times she's been grounded for similar things.
